Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Degree in the following areas preferred but not required: MIS, Info Sys, Computer Science, or related fields.
- At least one of the following certifications preferred.
- VMware VCP/VCAP/VCDX
- MTA/MCSE or current equivalent
- SCSN-E/EMCSA or similar storage certification
Experience:
- 3+ years of professional IT experience supporting servers and/or enterprise storage systems.
- Ability to write technical design and build documentation for systems, storage and backup infrastructure.
- Experience in monitoring and alerting tools and techniques for supporting systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- Advanced knowledge and administration of Windows or Linux server OS.
- Monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting hardware and performance metrics.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting technologies such as Ansible, PowerShell, Python, etc.
- Data copy or replication tools such as robocopy, rsync, or emcopy.
Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of storage concepts such as RAID technologies, replication, and snapshots.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and RH OpenShift.
- Linux or Windows server administration.
- Working knowledge of enterprise storage systems and protocols (SMB/CIFS/NFS/iSCSI).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Focus on quality and customer service.
- Must be able to prioritize work.
- Working knowledge of security, networking, and firewall components.
- Experience with VDI/VMware Horizon.
- Knowledge of rack and blade server hardware.
- System performance tuning and history of implementing best practice strategies.
